Mooresville Church spreads Easter cheer to nursing home residents

MOORESVILLE, NC — While the ongoing pandemic upended many holiday plans this past weekend, residents of one Mooresville long term care facility were treated to messages of love and cheer, thanks to members of an area church.

Volunteers from Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church recently gathered outside Cadence Mooresville Retirement Community, located at 198 E. Waterlynn Road in Mooresville, for a socially distant holiday visit with residents. “All brought homemade signs proclaiming the love and joy of Redemption. Everyone stayed outdoors and masked to maintain safety precautions,” the church said in a statement. “Despite the masks, there were smiles all around.”

The gathering was one of several the church has organized for nursing home residents since the start of the pandemic. “Williamson’s Chapel has been doing outdoor window parades and visits since the start of the pandemic to spread some love to the residents who have been isolated for so long,” said Whitney Cassell, director of missions and outreach at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church. “We have also brought snacks and goodies to the staff for all of their hard work throughout this past year. We have visited eight different nursing homes over the last year. “
