Assisted Living Sites Get Coronavirus Vaccine In Prince George’s County
BOWIE, MD — Gov. Larry Hogan announced Tuesday that CVS and Walgreens finished their immunization clinics at all the state’s nursing homes. These residents and staff fell into stage 1A of Maryland’s five-part vaccination plan.
Now, the inoculations are moving onto assisted living facilities, which are part of phase 1B. Prince George’s County is no exception.
Tribute at Melford, located in Bowie, hosted its first vaccination clinic on Sunday. CVS administered the immunizations at the center, which specializes in memory care.
Residents and staff got their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech shot. They will get their second dose 21 days later.
“We are so grateful to have this vaccine for our residents and team members,” Anne Benefield, Executive Director of Tribute at Melford, said in a press release. “It’s a wonderful day for all of us.”
Prince George’s County entered stage 1C of its inoculation rollout on Monday. That opened shots to locals age 65 to 74 and frontline workers in these industries. Prince Georgians in earlier phases still take precedent, however.
