Scottsdale, AZ — March 24, 2026 — Cogir Senior Living today announced a national partnership with Humane World for Animals, formerly called the Humane Society of the United States, to advance the More Than a Pet® campaign. This relationship reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the human-animal bond and expanding access to care, resources and support services that help keep pets and their families together.

Humane World for Animals is a global leader in animal welfare, tackling the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering to drive lasting change. The organization helps save more than 1.1 million animals each year through its work promoting plant-based eating, has rescued 2,700+ dogs during more than a decade of efforts against the now-banned dog meat trade in South Korea, and has supported legislation in 525+ localities in 8 states banning the sale of puppy mill dogs in pet stores.

Cogir Senior Living operates 100+ communities across the United States, offering independent living, assisted living and memory care. Cogir will serve as a Presenting Partner of the 2026 More Than a Pet Community Hero Award. The initiative recognizes individuals and organizations making meaningful impacts for pets and people in their communities. The individual who is voted in as the Hero will earn a $10,000 grant for their community organization to continue their work in increasing access to care. The collaboration includes:

· Pet-focused events hosted across Cogir communities nationwide

· Support of local shelters, prioritizing those connected to the Pets for Life program

· A larger 2026 signature event at a key Cogir location

“At Cogir, we believe connection is essential to well-being,” said Heidi Brashear, SVP of Marketing & Engagement. “Pets are family. This partnership reinforces our commitment to supporting residents, families and communities through meaningful, purpose-driven engagement.”

“Humane World for Animals is dedicated to changing the world for animals by expanding access to care and building community-driven solutions that help keep pets with the people who love them,” said Steve McVeigh, vice president of business development for Humane World for Animals. “We are grateful to Cogir for their support and dedication to More Than a Pet.”

Together, the organizations aim to create lasting change for animals and the people who love them.
