What is Connections?

An early intervention to memory loss.

Our Connections program is an early intervention service that challenges the mind, removes barriers to engagement and promotes autonomy in a small-group, structured setting with peers. It is designed for Assisted Living residents experiencing early memory loss and allows them to age in place without having to enter Memory Care.

What are the early signs of memory loss?

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is quickly becoming a frequent diagnosis for many older adults. We created Connections to help those living with MCI avail themselves of every opportunity to slow memory loss and forgetfulness.

Early signs of memory loss include:

  • Losing things often
  • Forgetting important events
  • Having trouble making decisions
  • Becoming easily overwhelmed
  • Increased confusion

Combat Early Memory Loss with personalized care plans.

Personalized care plans

Our Connections Directors work with each resident to personalize their program, offering support where needed and independence where capable. Joining a program such as Connections before MCI progresses is key.
Senior care: fitness classes, senior woman stretching.

Slowing memory loss is possible

Maintaining the ability to form new connections in the brain can help slow memory loss. Like physical workouts, cognitive workouts can improve mental connections. We accomplish this through:
  • Managing health conditions
  • Getting good sleep
  • Managing stress
  • A healthy diet
Senior programs: senior art classes

Building connections

Our brain connectivity declines when we become socially isolated. Connections combines social interaction with physical activity and cognitive engagement to build physical and cognitive connections simultaneously while also reducing stress, improving depression and helping your loved one flourish.

Find Peace of Mind

CONNECTIONS gets in tune with your loved ones’ wellness needs and creates a lifestyle plan that helps them feel energized and confident while offering daily social interaction and access to everything our communities offer.

What Connections offers

Connections prioritizes building social, emotional and physical wellness through a diverse selection of activities. We coordinate intellectually stimulating challenges tailored to your loved one’s capabilities.

Diet

Research suggests insulin and diabetes sensitivity are thought to affect cognitive health. Cogir’s ENCORE Culinary Services offers many healthy options rich in protein and Omega-3 to promote overall health and wellness.

Sleep

Sleep clears toxins from the brain and body each night and promotes mental wellness, which is why we encourage regular sleeping patterns among all our residents.

Family

Keep your loved one close through supportive activities designed with the whole family in mind. Together, residents, caregivers and families can create a thoughtful prevention plan catered to your loved one’s needs.

Exercise

Brain health is proven to improve with daily movement and exercise. Your loved one can enjoy a variety of classes and fitness programs to become stronger, steadier and more balanced in all they do.

Environments

Living in a vibrant and tight-knit community can prolong your loved one’s cognitive ability and help slow the early stages of memory loss. Each day brings a new opportunity to develop a healthier mind.
